BIO
Fabifa is a tape artist who lives and creates in Berlin. Having moved to the city in 2015, she has experienced a newfound sense of freedom and self-discovery which she expresses through her art. Fabifa’s artistic focus is to capture harmonious moments and reflect her subject’s sensations and feelings, with a strong emphasis on aesthetics and beauty.
Tape is Fabifa’s primary medium, and she loves using it because it can bond and unite different ideas. Her art is all about making connections between different cultures and perspectives, and is inspired by a wide range of sources, including engravings, pop, and comic art.
Recently, Fabifa has been inspired by ultraviolet glowing corals and sea creatures, and has been exploring their correlation with the urban night life of a modern metropolis. Her art centers around human existence and perception, and she is interested in exploring the creation of a blueprint for the future of humanity.
Valeryia Losikava (b. 1987), known as Fabifa, is a Berlin-based artist creating large-scale installations and series of hard edge figurative works using primarily tape. Her work explores themes of personal freedom, identity and self-expression.
Born and raised in Minsk, Belarus, she studied architecture and security engineering, working as a security engineer before moving to Berlin in 2015 – a city she chose specifically to pursue art. The experience of living between two worlds, between constraint and freedom, became the foundation of her entire practice.
Her works emerge from the intersection of three layers: the internal – the psychological state she is exploring at a given moment; the external – a theme or world she is obsessed with (deep-sea creatures, night megacities, cyberpunk, the human body); and the colour period she is in. Her figures are muses who are mostly real people who inspire her. Her creative process begins with photography – capturing the essence of a muse before meticulous translating it into tape. The precision of tape mirrors the structured side of her personality, while its adaptability allows for spontaneity.
Her installations have been presented at major Berlin institutions and events, including Urban Nation Museum as part of Berlin Art Week, the Berlin TV Tower (Fernsehturm), and Gallery Weekend Berlin, with further exhibitions across Germany, France, Spain, Denmark, and Mexico. She has held solo exhibitions at Mora Mora Gallery (Cancun, 2023) and Pink Dot Gallery (Berlin, 2025), and her work is held in private collections internationally.
STATEMENT
I create large-scale installations and series of hard edge figurative works using primarily tape, exploring themes of personal freedom, identity and self-expression.
I came to art through architecture and engineering – and the experience of leaving Belarus for Berlin, of living between constraint and freedom, became the foundation of everything I make.
My works emerge from three layers at once: what I am going through internally, what I am obsessed with externally – deep-sea creatures, night megacities, cyberpunk, the human body – and the colour period I am in. I am drawn to contrasts – the organic and the mechanical, the past and the future, the rigid and the fluid. My figures are muses, mostly real people who inspire me – I photograph them and meticulous translate their essence into tape.
My tape works are a language – transmitting personal experiences, sensations and analysis. The precision of tape mirrors the structured side of my personality, while its adaptability allows for spontaneity. I want people to understand what I am saying and to immerse themselves in it.
