In 2021, during the global lockdown, Fabifa collaborated with the Berlin theater Hebbel am Ufer on a project focused on the Belarusian protests. This collaboration culminated in a powerful piece of artwork displayed on the theater’s facade, capturing the themes of political struggle and social change.
The artwork, titled “My Name is Belarus and I’m Stronger Than You Think,” features a striking image of a woman breaking free from chains. The woman’s determined gaze and the breaking chains symbolize resilience and the fight for freedom. The use of bold red, white, and black colors reflects the national flag of Belarus, emphasizing the artwork’s political context.
Fabifa’s piece is both a statement of solidarity with the Belarusian protesters and a visual representation of their strength and determination. The woman in the artwork, with her fierce expression and the act of breaking chains, embodies the spirit of resistance against oppression.
Displayed prominently on the facade of Hebbel am Ufer Theater, this mural served as a visual protest and a call to action, bringing attention to the ongoing struggle in Belarus. Fabifa’s collaboration with the theater not only highlighted the political issues but also showcased the power of art in advocating for social change and raising awareness about important global events.
The project was part of a larger initiative by Hebbel am Ufer Theater to engage with contemporary political issues through art, providing a platform for artists like Fabifa to express their views and connect with the public on pressing matters.
Through this collaboration, Fabifa demonstrated her commitment to using art as a tool for political expression and social advocacy, reinforcing the idea that art can be a powerful medium for change.
