MAYBELLINE
The “Brave Together” campaign by Maybelline is a remarkable example of a fruitful collaboration between the brand and artists, focusing on supporting women’s mental health. This initiative from BASA Studio brought together four artists, including Fabifa, Caro Pepe, Anna Bengard, and Lamia, each representing different emotions.
Fabifa’s contribution to the project centered on the theme of “Scream,” portraying a woman’s intense expression of emotion. Her artwork featured the face of a woman screaming, a powerful representation of unrestrained emotion and the courage to voice one’s feelings. This imagery resonates deeply with those living with anxiety and depression, emphasizing that it’s okay to not be okay and that expressing vulnerability is a form of strength.
The mural was created at the iconic East Side Gallery in Berlin, the longest open-air gallery in the world, known for its extensive street art. The choice of location was deliberate, as it allowed the message to reach a wide audience and highlighted the importance of breaking taboos surrounding mental health.
Despite facing challenges due to stormy weather conditions, the artists successfully completed the mural, which depicted four different women breaking the silence on mental health. This powerful collaboration aimed to encourage women to speak openly about their feelings, no matter how dark, sad, or broken they might seem. Fabifa’s piece stood out as a call to action, urging individuals to be brave, express themselves, and fight for their freedom. As she aptly put it, “To be strong, you must also be willing to be weak.”
