Marseille Mermaid
The “Marseille Mermaid” is a tape art installation created by Fabifa for the A-part festival in 2017 in Marseille, France. This artwork represents the muse of Marseille, the mermaid, embodying the city’s essence. It was the first introduction of tape art to the residents of Marseille, generating notable interest in the press.
The installation depicts a mermaid lying among stylized waves, with boats floating around her. The use of blue tones for the water and contrasting colors for the boats highlights the maritime heritage of Marseille. The mermaid serves as a central figure, symbolizing the city’s connection to the Mediterranean.
This installation not only showcased Fabifa’s approach to tape art but also celebrated Marseille’s cultural and historical ties to the sea. The “Marseille Mermaid” illustrates the power of art in capturing the spirit of a place, leaving a lasting impression on locals and visitors alike.
