PENNY BOX80
The PENNY BOX80 project is a vibrant example of how street art can be integrated into everyday spaces, creating a unique visual environment. In this project, the PENNY supermarket in Berlin’s Friedrichshain district was transformed into an art gallery, where street art comes to life on the walls and pillars of the store, telling the stories of the neighborhood and its people.
When PENNY decided to completely rethink the experience of their supermarket, they turned to some of Berlin’s leading street artists. Among the participants was Fabifa, who, along with other talented artists like Vikunia, Vidam, and Innerfields, transformed the space. Each artist was assigned a theme corresponding to a specific section of the store, allowing them to bring their unique interpretations to the surroundings.

Fabifa, known for her tape art, drew inspiration from the “Star Gazer” sculpture by Christina Gersch, located near the store. Her artwork graced one of the supermarket walls, embodying the idea of connecting with the local culture and the atmosphere of Friedrichshain. One of the central characters in her work is a young woman made of tape, waving goodbye to customers as they leave the store.
PENNY BOX is more than just a supermarket; it’s a space where commerce and art intersect, creating a lively and vibrant atmosphere that reflects the spirit of the neighborhood and its street culture.
